• How was QR678 developed?

This molecule has come into being after 4 years of intense rigorous research by Dr. Rinky Kapoor and Dr. Shome, who is a visiting Faculty at the IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Mumbai. This molecule has undergone clinical trials for over two years. The entire story of how this revolution developed has been featured by top magazines and news papers!

• How does this work?

The hair follicles are regulated by epithelial  and mesenchymal cell interactions. They undergo cycles of growth (anagen), involution (catagen), and rest (telogen). The force in the cycle is the dermal papilla. Factors from the dermal mesenchyme act as inductive signals for cycling of the follicular epithelium (Peus & Pittelkow 1996). Epithelial stem cells, in the bulge area of the hair follicles, respond to the inductive signal from the dermal papilla (Cotsarelis et al. 1990). This activation causes proliferation of stem cells in the bulge area, and then the next generation of stem cells forms a down-growth into the deep dermis. This is followed by differentiative growth of matrix cells and leads to the generation of the complex follicular product, the shaft, along with its housing sheath.In simple language, it means that certain growth factors, which were unknown until now, cause growth of hair in humans. Our research group, led by Dr. Debraj Shome and Dr. Rinky Kapoor, has identified few such growth factors. They have artificially prepared this revolutionary new molecule in the laboratory. The trials  conducted have shown hair growth on injection of this cocktail of unique growth factors. So guess what –Soon, no one need be bald anymore!

• Will it benefit for me? How do I get an appointment?

For patients suffering from loss of hair, the QR678 molecule is administered by very small injections of 1 ml volume per session into the scalp. About 8-10 sessions are performed spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Each session takes 15 minutes and no hospitalization is required and costs Rs. 5000/ ml of injection per session. More than 500 people all over the world have already benefited and are flying in from different parts of the world, every month for their injections!The scalp has to be initially evaluated to find out if the treatment will work for you. It is very difficult to regain the hair lost over time, and some patients just fail to respond to traditionally available therapies. This treatment helps regain some percentage of that hair.
